Historical records of local governments are collected, preserved, and made available at five regional branch archives. These records document county and city governments, special districts, and other local or regional state entities. The regional branch research facilities are located in Bellevue, Bellingham, Cheney, Ellensburg, and Olympia.

When doing case searches for the following superior courts: Adams, Asotin, Benton, Chelan, Clallam, Clark, Columbia, Cowlitz, Douglas, ... The Washington State Patrol (WSP) maintains state criminal history record information.

The free public records Washington has may only be obtainable by searching public databases provided by public agencies. Some agencies regularly update online repositories containing some of the non-confidential information they maintain, and provide the information free of charge.

Washington Public Records Washington residents have the right to search for, obtain, and examine public records per the Washington Public Records Act. This law states that government records and information are presumed public. The Washington State Records website’s mission is aid Washington state citizens in the obtaining of that information.

Maintained by the State Police of Washington, the data has been accumulated through inputs from all the local crime justice agencies across the state.

The official court record is maintained by the court of record. Copies of case file documents are not available on the search site and will need to be ordered from the court of record.
